Neither heaven nor earth governs me, I roam freely and at ease.
Even in drunkenness, the world remains vast, When sober, all worries are swept away with a stroke.

The little demons patrolling the mountains rarely have the opportunity to participate in the banquets in the cave. They have to find the wine and food by themselves, so they often transform into human forms and go to the town to cheat for food and drink. After a while, the people in the town found a way to see through them. The little demons were often caught before they were full and had to be beaten. Gradually, everyone dared not go to the town again.

But among the little demons, there was a wolf demon who loved alcohol. One day, he was lying under a tree to be lazy. In the dim light, he saw an old wolf wearing a crane cloak. The old wolf asked, “Why are you lying down instead of patrolling the mountain?” The wolf demon said, “I want to go to the town to drink, but I am always recognized when I transform. Now I can only satisfy my craving in my dreams.” The old wolf laughed and whispered in his ear, “Go to the ancestral hall, hide in the curtain, and drink all the wine on the tribute table.” After that, the old wolf’s figure flashed and disappeared.

The wolf demon was half-believing and half-doubting, but still wanted to give it a try, so he quickly transformed and found the ancestral hall in the town. He saw that there were indeed curtains hanging inside, covering a holy statue, and he didn’t know which god was being offered. The tribute table was full of delicacies, including several jars of good wine. The wolf demon followed the old wolf’s words, sneaked into the curtain, stole the wine jars and drank them all. After a few jars, he burped, and the people outside the curtain heard the sound and gathered around.

The wolf demon was trapped in the curtain, unable to move forward or backward. Suddenly, someone said, “The tribute wine was drunk. It must be the gods’ miracle!” As soon as this was said, there was a tsunami of prayers from outside the curtain, and people kept saying things like gods’ blessing.

Since then, people from all over the country came here to pray, and the wolf demon had endless wine. He drank all day, and gradually felt that the wine was not so delicious. And those occasional desperate, greedy and sinister prayers made him more depressed because he was powerless.

That day, he felt that the tribute wine tasted like bitter water, and he could no longer bear it. He rushed out of the curtain, raised the wine jar on the tribute table high, and smashed it to pieces amid the screams of the crowd. He woke up suddenly when his hand raised the jar and it fell. It turned out that he was still lying under the big tree. There was no ancestral hall, no incense, and no crowd around. He quickly sighed, picked up the long axe beside him, and hurried to patrol the mountain.
